Mutant teddy

Debbie Bliss guernsey style hooded top

Funky Fur pink jumper

Am pleased to report that mutant teddy has morphed into quite a nice looking bear actually!!! He's so adorable that Elliot wants to keep him.

Started a new project over the weekend - a funky fur jumper in pink and lilac for Elliot's friend Olivia. It's just basic stocking stitch so easy to do whilst watching videos with Elliot! The Debbie Bliss guernsey requires a bit more concentration.

Elliot is full of cold so we didn't go swimming this weekend. It actually snowed yesterday. Freaky - one minute brilliant sunshine (although bitterly cold) and the next minute snow.

Last Thursday I went on a woolly mission to Whitby to a brilliant shop called "Bobbins"

. I hadn't been before but I went with a knitting friend, Diane, who had. Whitby itself is a lovely place I quite fancy retiring there.

We watched the swing bridge open and close to let the boats through - truly amazing. Elliot loved it. As it was a working day for the fisherman it was opening and closing a lot more than I've seen before. We had scampi and chips - fantastic and then off to Bobbins. Well, what a delight, a knitters' paradise. Yarns everywhere. Unfortunately, Elliot was tired and therefore grumpy and naughty which meant I couldn't devote much time to really delving into the treasures. The staff were excellent and kept him amused and even gave him a little toy to play with. I must go back without him though to really appreciate the incredible stock they have. I bought some cream denim wool to make jumpers for Jono and Elliot. I've knitted with dark blue denim before but not cream. It's brilliant yarn because when you wash it it shrinks (the pattern allows for this!) and it fades in the wash like jeans. When it shrinks initially the pattern becomes more pronounced. Can't wait to get stuck into this little lot!

Just had an e-mail from Amazon this morning to say my new book "Adorable Knits for Toddlers" is on its way - more excitement!

I can see that you're one of those types that underestimates the sentimental value of mutant teddy bears.

Funny. I tried knitting once. My potholder couldn't have covered an ant by the time I finished. Kudos to you for having perseverance.
